Email setup instructions for post.furness.net using Outlook 2010

To set up your email account in Microsoft Outlook 2010 –

1. Start Microsoft Outlook 2010. Click on the file tab at the top right of the screen and click ‘add account’.
Select ‘Manually configure server settings’
Click next.

2. Select ‘Internet email’ and click next

3. Enter your name and your email address

Select POP3 as the account type.

Enter post.furness.net for both incoming and outgoing servers.

Enter your email address as your user name.

Enter your password.

Tick ‘remember password’.

Click ‘More settings’

4. Tick ‘My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication’

Click on the advanced tab.

5. Make sure you have 110 for your incoming server and port 25 for the outgoing server.

If you have problems sending emails you can also use port 587 for your outgoing server.

Click ok.

Select ‘Test account settings’ to verify that the settings are correct.

Click finish.

6. On the Auto Account Setup page, enter the following:

Your Name
E-mail Address
Password

7. At the bottom of the page, select Manually configure server settings or additional server types, and then
click Next

8. On the Choose E-mail Service page, select Internet E-mail, and then click Next.

9. On the Internet E-mail Settings page, enter your email
account in formation as follows:

Your Name
Enter your first and last name.
E-mail Address
Enter your email address.
Account Type
Select POP3.
Incoming mail server
Type post.furness.net for your incoming mail server.

Outgoing mail server (SMTP)
Type post.furness.net for your outgoing mail server.

User Name
Enter your email address again.
Password
Enter your password.

10. Select the Remember Password checkbox, and then click More Settings.

In the Internet E-mail Settings window, go to the Outgoing Server tab. Check
My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication and select
Use same settings as my incoming mail server.

12. Go to the Advanced tab. Verify that you have 110 for your incoming server
(POP3) and 25 for your outgoing server (SMTP), and then click OK.

NOTE: If you have trouble sending email you can also try 587 for your outgoing server (SMTP) port.

Click Test Account Settings. Microsoft will send
itself a message to test your incoming and outgoing
capabilities. Once this is complete, click Next

14. Click Finish
