Important Notes about Domain Registrations and Renewals

Furness Internet customers can discuss their domain names requirements and registration management by emailing support@furness.net or calling 01229 808040 and we will take care of everything else for you.

In the past we have contacted you before the renewal date for your domain name to check if you wanted to renew the domain(s) for a further time, typically 2 years. In order to make the process quicker and easier for our customers we are in the process of implementing a new invoicing system for our domain registrations and other services.

For future renewals of domain names registered with Furness Internet, that are due to be renewed after March 31st 2017, the default position will be that all domain names registered with Furness Internet will be automatically renewed for their default renewal period of 2 years. If you want to renew your domain for longer period please contact us and we will be happy to arrange that for you.

You will receive the invoice for the upcoming renewal outlining the domain name, the renewal date and the cost, 30 days before the renewal date which will allow you to clearly see which domain(s) are due for renewal but also give you the option to contact us before the payment date to arrange to cancel should you not wish to renew the domain(s).

It is important to note we are unable to accept cancellations to domain renewals after the automatic renewal has been processed by our provider (for example Nominet for UK domains), the so it is important you confirm before the renewal date if you do not wish to renewal a domain registration.

It is therefore important that we have the right contact email details for the person responsible for authorising the renewal of your domain names. Please do not hesitate to contact us to update your contact details if required.

If your domain stops working because you have not responded to the expiry email, you can still renew during the grace period by emailing support@furness.net or calling 01229 808040.

Furness Internet do not make any charges for transferring a domain name to another registrar.

A Nominet Member

We are a Member of Nominet (tag – FURNESS) and maintain our own Domain Name Servers (DNS) and network infrastructure in Cumbria with mirror servers located in London and the US. This gives us the ability to act rapidly on your behalf and flexibility in routing traffic related to your name which is often difficult to obtain from an organisation which doesn’t manage this function directly.

Nominet is the central registry of .uk domains – Please note that by registering a .uk domain you are also entering in to a contract with Nominet (see link to full terms below).

They both apply their own intelligence and their own IT skills. It was Simon’s latest visit that prompted me to write although I am sure he would say there was nothing exceptional about it. He just lived up to his usual high standards. The best way I can put it is that it is as reassuring as having one of my own colleagues there. I can trust their IT skills and abilities as well as their common sense. They dont need supervision.

Its is a very stark contrast to one or two other IT firms we have used for similar hands-on roles at different sites where the knowledge of their staff is not really up to the services they claim to support for their customers – particularly in the field of networks and internet support and advice. I sometimes feel they are only surviving by pulling the wool over the eyes of their customers.
